RDF is a Development Finance Institution set up to support access to finance for Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises engaged in Agriculture and/or Renewal Energy, as well as women-owned/managed businesses. It was established in 2016, out of DANIDA’s desire to institutionalise a development finance organisation that will outlive DANIDA’s presence in Ghana (beyond 2020). RDF is, therefore, a Company limited by Guarantee, not a project. RDF pursues its mandate by providing Wholesale Funds to Rural and Community Banks and Credit Guarantees to Universal Banks. By partnering with Financial Institutions (FIs) of varying sizes, we are able to reach a wider range of beneficiaries (by geography and scale) and ultimately build value chains through these relationships. RDF also grants Technical Assistance (TA) in the form of training to both partner FIs and beneficiary MSMEs, at no cost to either party, as a means to safeguard our investments.
