This position is part of the U.S. Development Finance Corporation (DFC) Office of the Chief Executive (OCE). As a Climate Finance Specialist (Adaptation), you will lead design, development, and implementation of initiatives and interventions related to climate adaptation and resilience.

Major Duties:

Identify key markets and partners related to discrete climate action interventions. Spend time in-country, working through and pulling together the pieces of a thesis-driven climate action intervention.

    • Seek input and collaborate with regional and sector staff at DFC to ensure successful implementation of efforts related to climate adaptation and resilience.
    • In collaboration with colleagues, perform front end analysis to identify and assess intervention opportunities, based on country and sector strategies, market conditions, barrier analysis and investment potential.
    • Analyze sector and regulatory reforms that are needed to unlock opportunities for private investment.
    • Identify successful business model trends relevant to emerging markets which have the potential to be replicated in target countries, or sectors.
    • Advise DFC staff on pipeline opportunities and approaches in climate adaptation and resilience; provides expertise on DFC’s climate finance investments and overall strategy.
    • Discuss, in depth, DFC programs and other products as applicable with representatives of U.S. and foreign firms who have technical questions concerning programs. Discuss with companies the development of investment opportunities.

Qualifications:

Applicants must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements no later than the closing date of this announcement.

You may qualify at the GS-14 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirements:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes sourcing, developing and/or closing investments that generate solutions to climate change through climate adaption and resilience projects.

Note: Education is not substitutional at this grade level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Additional Information:

Salary will be based upon the locality pay areas, as defined by OPM, and will be adjusted based upon the selectee’s duty location.

This position is eligible to be 100% remote. The option to work out of the DFC’s office in downtown Washington, DC is available to candidates who are interested. If applicants select Washington, DC as their preferred duty station, the selectee will be expected to report to the office and follow the agency’s telework policy.
