Mashita joined ANDE in July 2020. She recently completed her MSc by Research degree in Chemistry at the University of Bristol, specializing in organic geochemistry. Her research focused on understanding nitrogen fixation in soils and aimed to improve agricultural sustainability by reducing our reliance on industrial fertilizers. Mashita was also a former intern at the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species (CMS), under UNEP. The topics she worked with included, among others, analyzing renewable energy developments with regards to migratory species conservation, alongside exploring synergies to protect peatlands. Mashita hopes to contribute towards sustainable development – and is especially keen on integrating environmental considerations into these actions.
