Developing a coordinated set of expanded business support services for entrepreneurs to help them grow to access capital and markets in Guatemala.
About GEDI
The USAID-ANDE Guatemala Entrepreneurship Development Initiative (GEDI) seeks to foster a stronger entrepreneurial ecosystem to bring economic prosperity to regions and communities heavily affected by migration. GEDI is developing a coordinated set of expanded business support services available to entrepreneurs, particularly to businesses run by, employing, or serving the needs of women, indigenous and rural communities, and youth.
GEDI enables these ventures to grow, increase their revenue and employment, and develop new goods and services that meet the needs of these communities by supporting these ventures via business advisory services, incubation or acceleration programs, and access to finance and markets. Increased prosperity and diversified financial opportunity will, over time, lessen the economic impetus to migrate and keep people invested in their local communities.
Opportunity
Through GEDI, USAID and ANDE are launching the second regranting facility to fund entrepreneurial support organizations (ESOs) to implement catalytic ecosystem-strengthening initiatives that help SGBs access capital and markets in areas of high migration. This initiative will give preference to interventions that support businesses run by, employing, or serving the needs of women and indigenous people, rural communities, or youth.
Project Size: $200,000-$300,000 USD
Project Duration: 12 months (July 2023 – June 2024)
Selected proposals and their interventions will be supported on a cost-reimbursable model.
