Yok Company Limited Yok Consulting is a leading business solutions provider that works with MSMEs based in East Africa by challenging their operations, policies and strategies in creating sustainable value. The organization provides management consultancy, project management, capital raising services and gender inclusion advisory. Yok Consulting commenced operations in 2010 but registered in 2013 under the Companies Act in Kenya. It is based in Nairobi but active in the larger East Africa market – Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Ethiopia. We have also executed assignments within the wider African region with established relationships with partners based in South East Asia, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Europe and North America. • Helped Mibawa Supplies Limited, a company in renewable energy and water sector in establishing last mile distribution for Solar Home Systems across Western and Nyanza regions of Kenya and capacity building of distributors on sales and marketing strategies in addition to streamlining business operations. Business operations included establishing company structures and reporting lines and stock management and sourcing. The company has so far installed 30,000 units of solar home systems 600 borehole solar pumping installations. This was made possible through successful grant applications through Power Africa-USADF and debt financing from SIMA Fund. • Yok Consulting assisted Econome , a woman owned Last Mile Distributor company in Kenya for household goods in setting up structures and systems for smooth business operations in addition to offering advisory services on need basis. • Provided proposal writing services to Exotic EPZ to support fundraising for their expansion needs. Exotic is a macadamia nuts processor in Kenya that is owned and managed by three Kenyan women. • Strategic business planning and development including financial analysis and investment plan for 1) KUSCCO Limited an umbrella organization for cooperative societies,2) Mamlaka Foods Limited an agribusiness SME that leverages on technologies and strategic partnerships along the supply chains to build an efficient food distribution platform connecting small scale urban traders and small scale rural farmers. It has integrated cold chain into its logistic services. • Capital raising and strategic advice to an SME involved in the export of Avocado and horticulture crops to Europe to develop cold chain storage facility. • Market assessment for Karurumo Service Providers, Nziu Fruits Sellers and Purity cooperative, Microfinance Enterprise Support Program Trust (MESPT) in market research and product development in Dairy and Horticulture value chain and renewable energy sector • Advising ARED, Smart Solar Kiosk in their expansion strategy into Kenya (currently in Rwanda, Uganda and Ivory Coast). This involved market intelligence and identifying potential distribution partners. • Support to Kings Biofuels, a Kenyan briquettes manufacturer and distributor during their submission to GACC+Spark+investment readiness program. This included an analytical overview of the business operations, sales strategy, impact and financial performance-executive summary and financial overview and model. • Market development and operations support to energy enterprises for briquettes, improved cook stoves, solar and biogas market in over 20 counties in Kenya, organized targeted enterprise market development events/activities. • Working with a Solar Home system in Zambia starting with a $170k facility and through support such as milestones setting and advise on portfolio management, the company qualified for a $1M ticket. • Proactive Merit an MSME selling pure honey from Eastern Kenya. Assisted access e-commerce through listing her products on Jumia, the leading e-commerce platform. Helped in improving packaging and branding to suit platform requirements. • The company has a relationship with Global Private Financing Advisory Networks (PFAN) where one of the directors is a participant as an Advisor/Mentor. At PFAN, Start Ups, Small and Growing Businesses are walked through from proper booking keeping, business operations and building business financial models for capital raising. This acts as an accelerator program until the Start Ups/ businesses becomes investor ready and mentorship program can run from 6 months to 2 years before they become investors’ ready. • We are a business coaching service provider for the Green Call for GIZ Kenya’s WIDU program.
