In the past decade there has been a rising demand for impact investing in the form of socially responsible and purpose-driven finance in the SGB ecosystem in Brazil, India, and South Africa. The United Nations postulates that achieving “the SDGs will take between $5 to $7 trillion, with developing countries facing an investment gap of about $2.5 trillion”(UNCTAD, World Investment Report 2014). As a result impact investing has become an effective tool that the ecosystem believes can significantly contribute to closing this investment gap and promoting sustainable development in emerging markets.
