Advancing Entrepreneurship Priorities for G20 2025
G20 Entrepreneurship Learning Series

ANDE will launch the G20 Entrepreneurship Learning Series, a strategic policy engagement initiative aimed at integrating African entrepreneurial priorities into the global G20 agenda during South Africa’s G20 Presidency in 2025. This initiative will feature in-person “capsule sessions” and concurrent regional workshops designed to facilitate dialogue, exchange knowledge, and amplify local perspectives within international policy discussions. The series will culminate in African-led insights and policy recommendations tailored for the G20 Engagement Groups.

Series Objectives
  • Elevate Africa’s entrepreneurship priorities—especially from township and underserved economies—on the G20 stage
  • Convene structured dialogues that explore inclusive entrepreneurial policy solutions through scenario planning
  • Produce actionable policy briefs and a consolidated G20 Entrepreneurship Policy Memo for G20 stakeholders
  • Engage a curated set of local and global ecosystem actors, including entrepreneurs, support organizations, funders, corporates, and policy
Engagement Groups

The series will comprise four core thematic sessions aligned with key G20 Engagement Groups and will be conducted in person. Utilizing a scenario planning methodology, each session will bring together 30 to 40 stakeholders from the entrepreneurship, policy, research, and funding communities. The outcomes of each session will inform the development of a targeted policy brief, which will collectively contribute to the final G20 Entrepreneurship Policy Memo.

Youth 20 (Y20): Youth-Led Economic Transformation

The Youth 20 (Y20) serves as the official youth engagement group of the G20. It offers a structured platform for young individuals from G20 member states to engage in meaningful dialogue, exchange ideas, and present solutions to pressing global challenges.

Women 20 (W20): Gender-Inclusive Entrepreneurship

The Women 20 (W20) is an official engagement group of the G20, focused on promoting gender equality and women’s economic empowerment. Each year, W20 formulates consensus-based policy recommendations to ensure that gender considerations are integrated into the G20 leaders’ agenda and reflected in the final Leaders’ Declaration

Start-up 20 (SU20)

Startup20 serves as the official G20 Engagement Group focused on global entrepreneurship, emphasizing startups, micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), and innovation ecosystems

Business 20 (B20

The Business 20 (B20) serves as the official engagement group representing the international business community within the G20 framework. Comprising approximately 900 business leaders and representatives, the B20 develops policy recommendations for the G20 through task forces that convene virtually throughout the host country’s presidential term.

Parallel Regional Sessions

Hosted by the ANDE Country Champions, each aligned with one of the five G20 themes. These sessions:

  • Ensure Francophone, Lusophone, and geographic representation
  • Serve as deliverables for Country Partner workshop requirements
  • Produce region-specific insights integrated into capsule outputs
Synthesis and Global Engagement

In preparation for upcoming engagements, several key initiatives have been planned to support policy alignment and stakeholder reflection. The Fellows’ Futures Lab Webinar, scheduled for November 2025, will feature entrepreneurs sharing their insights and reflections on the series. Additionally, the Synthesis Summit at the ANDE Global Conference in Mexico on 1 October 2025 will serve as a platform to align and consolidate policy messages for formal submission. Furthermore, the G20 Entrepreneurship Policy Memo has been compiled and disseminated to all relevant G20 Engagement Groups to ensure coordinated input and broader policy coherence across forums.
