ANDE Annual Conference 2021 Scholarships

The Ricardo Salinas Scholarship Fund

The Ricardo Salinas Scholarship Fund is a program managed by the Aspen Institute Latinos and Society Program that serves to increase the participation of American Latinos and Mexicans in Aspen Institute programming. The scholarship aims to contribute to the leadership skills of individuals through exposure to world class programming and connections to new networks. The Aspen Institute also benefits from having a diversity of perspectives in programming. Scholars receive partial or nearly full funding to participate in the Aspen Institute’s public events, policy roundtables, leadership seminars and other convenings. Scholars also become members of a community of 340 changemakers and leaders across theUnited States and Mexico and are offered opportunities to further engage with the Aspen Institute.Thanks to generous support from Ricardo Salinas and Grupo Salinas, since its inception in 2015, theAspen Institute has awarded 340 Ricardo Salinas Scholarships enabling scholars from 75 different cities to participate in more than 90 unique Institute programs.

CRITERIA
To be eligible for the Ricardo Salinas Scholarship, the candidate must:
1) Be over the age of 18 (Specific programs may have additional age restrictions)
2) Be a resident of the United States or Mexico
3) Identify as Latino/a/x with an emphasis on first-generation candidates
4) Be qualified or admitted to an Aspen Institute program and able to contribute to the conversation based on professional and personal experience
5) Be able to demonstrate financial need
6) Be English dominant

The Woody and Gayle Hunt-Aspen Institute Fellowship

The Woody and Gayle Hunt-Aspen Institute Fellowship is a scholarship program launched in 2020 between the Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Foundation and Aspen Institute Latinos and Society. The Fellowship serves to increase the participation of individuals from the Borderplex Region (El Paso, TX; Ciudad Juarez, MX; LasCruces, NM) in Aspen Institute programming. The Fellowship aims to contribute to the leadership skills of individuals through exposure to world class programming and connections to new networks. The Aspen Institute also benefits from incorporating key perspectives from the region into Institute conversations and tables. Fellows are awarded scholarships that cover the cost of participation in Aspen Institute public events, policy round tables, leadership seminars and other convenings. After participation, awardees are encouraged to apply knowledge learned to the Paseo del Norte region. Fellows become members of the AILAS Alumni Network, a community of changemakers and leaders and are provided with opportunities to further engage with the Aspen Institute.
