Closing the Gender Data Gap — Better Metrics for Women’s Financial Inclusion with Accion
Session Overview
Accurate, sex-disaggregated data is critical to making gender-lens investing and financial inclusion strategies truly effective. But collecting and using this data at scale requires active collaboration across the financial services ecosystem.
In this session, Accion’s Impact, Measurement, and Management (IMM) team will share how they’re helping build stronger data systems and tools to track women’s usage of financial services. Drawing on hands-on work with providers and global initiatives, the team will explore what it takes to develop cheaper, more accessible, and customer-friendly financial solutions—especially for underserved women.
You’ll gain insights into:
-
The role of sex-disaggregated data in gender-lens investment
-
Lessons from Accion’s internal tools and advisory work with partners
-
Frameworks and strategies to measure women’s economic empowerment
-
Real-world application through the gender module in the 60 Decibels Microfinance Index, featuring new customer data from 11 financial service providers in Accion’s portfolio
Whether you’re an investor, data practitioner, or advocate for inclusive finance, this session will provide practical takeaways and emerging models to guide your work.
