About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Community Coordinator. This role will coordinate and expand GrowthAfrica’s community of startups, mentors, investors, and ecosystem partners. The Community Coordinator will be crucial in identifying and engaging with in-country and international resource partners, facilitating partnerships, and supporting the growth and success of startups and businesses. The Community Coordinator. Will report directly to the Head of Advisory.
Your responsibilities will include the following:
- Develop and implement an international resources strategy for GrowthAfrica to engage identified resource categories.
- Identify and map global mentors, experts, incubators, accelerators, and investors to provide startups mentorship, skills transfer, and investment opportunities.
- Promote the countries we operate in as attractive investment destinations for early-stage and later-stage venture investors.
- Identify and promote relevant international events and conferences for local startups, facilitating partnerships and access opportunities.
- Pursue partnerships with international resources, negotiating and signing agreements to deliver coordinated support and resources.
- Support the outreach and selection of startups for our programs, ensuring their matching with international resources.
- Collaborate with local ecosystem partners to facilitate access to global resources for selected startups.
- Design and support implementation of startup support packages, including pitch decks and financial models.
- Facilitate engagement and interaction between startups, ecosystem partners, and global resource partners.
- Support interactions between startups and international investors for investment opportunities.
- Work with the GrowthAfrica communications team to document and promote program successes and learnings.
- Assist the Monitoring and Evaluation team in tracking and reporting progress on beneficiaries’ linkages with global resources.
Whom we are looking for:
Knowledge and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in international development, economics, statistics, entrepreneurship, or another relevant field.
- Over five years of proven experience in international resource management, business linkages, or community management.
- Strong understanding of the startup ecosystem, business models, and investment landscape.
- Excellent networking and relationship-building skills to engage with global mentors, investors, incubators, and accelerators.
- Knowledge of international events and conferences relevant to startup growth and development.
- Ability to negotiate and establish partnership frameworks with international resource partners.
- Experience in designing and implementing startup support programs and resources.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to engage and facilitate interactions between stakeholders.
- Proactive and self-driven with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and project management skills to ensure effective implementation and tracking of activities.
